Welcome to the review of Farmacy cleansing balms for removing makeup. Cleansing balms are a great way to remove mascara, blush and mineral makeup. We used the very cherry clean, and Farmacy carries new cleansing balms like Green Clean.
What people love about cleansing balms is that they melt away makeup. This cleansing balm is made from sunflower and ginger root oils. These help the makeup remover balm to gently remove makeup whiles still leaving your skin smooth and hydrated.
How do cleansing balms work to remove makeup?
Cleansing balms have a wax like consistency that melts once it comes in contact with your warm skin. Cleansing balms will melt right into your skin and pick up the makeup molecules, making it easy to remove the makeup from your skin.

USING CLEANING BALMS CAN BE A HIT OR MISS
If you have used a cleansing balm before and didn't think it worked all that well, then it was probably a bad formula to begin with. You might want to give this the Farmacy formulas a try.
You already may be aware of Farmacy's main cleansing balm called Green Clean which is their best selling makeup remover.
This is exactly the same as that but in a cherry scent. If you love the smell of candied cherries, it smells just like that. Light and perfectly fragranced. Heaven!
The cleansing balm has a consistency that kind of looks like wax but then when you put it onto your face, your body heat will gently melt it.
You will feel it start to melt as soon as it touches your skin. It slowly melts as it mixes in with the makeup to gently remove it.
We were certain that we would not be able to find another cleansing balm better than their regular Green Clean formula.
But we were pleasantly surprised, the cherry version smells so good and your makeup literally melts away as you gently massage it onto your face.
How to use cleansing balms
Before using a cleansing balm, start with freshly cleaned hands
Step 1
Open up the container. Using the provided spatula, scoop out a healthy amount of the cleansing balm. A healthy amount meaning about 1 teaspoon.
The amount you need will depend on how much makeup you have on your face that has to be removed. If you have just a bit of makeup you might only use just under a teaspoon or less. Less is more here, you really do not need very much for the cleansing balm to work.
Just make sure that you put enough onto the spatula so that you aren't going back and double dipping into the jar. Keep the contents in the jar clean.
Step 2
Take the spatula and put the cleansing balm onto your fingers and gently rub your two hands together. This is going to start to melt the balm for a nice application onto your face.
Step 3
Gently but firmly start to massage the cleansing balm onto your face. Massage the balm all over, even onto your eyes (only if you are not wearing semi-permanent eyelashes).
When you start to apply the cleansing balm to your face, it will melt and start to work into the makeup and break it down so that you can remove it. Get into your eyebrows really well especially if you have been using a glitter liner.
Step 4
Using a very warm makeup cloth, gently wipe away the cleansing balm until it is completely removed. You can keep washing out your cloth with warm water and then going back to clean off your face to make sure it's completely removed.
TIPS FOR USING FARMACY CLEANSING BALMS
Only use the cleansing balm for eye makeup remover if you do not have falsies on. The oils in the balm could ruin your semi-permanent lashes and make them fall off sooner. So if you have lashes, only use it on other parts of your face.
Use a proper makeup cloth or microfiber towel when removing the cleansing balm. If you don't have a proper makeup removal cloth you can get some here on Amazon for reasonable prices.
And when you are removing the cleansing balm, make sure that the water is on the warm side because if it is to cool, then it's going to harden instead of melting off as intended.
Always start with clean hands and use the provided spatula. Practicing good makeup hygiene will ensure that no bacteria or nasties will start to grow in the jar.
It's never a good idea to use your fingers or double dip into the jar. And avoid putting the cleansing balm onto your face with the spatula. You are going to end up with makeup on it and then if you need more, you'll have to clean the spatula first and that's a pain.
Just try to get enough the first time so that you don't have to re-dip.
FAQ's ABOUT USING THE VERY CHERRY CLEANSING BALM
Will this makeup remover balm irritate my skin?
If you are not prone to any allergies, this is a non irritating formula. We find that is super gentle and leaves our skin smooth and hydrated.
Can I use the cleansing balm over my eyes?
Yes, this is gentle enough to use for eye makeup removal but like we mentioned above, avoid using it on your eyes if you have semi-permanent false lashes.
What skin types are best to use the cleansing balm for?
This makeup remover can be used on all skin types. If you are worried about oily skin then you can go ahead and use your regular cleanser for a quick rinse.
Will this cleansing balm take off waterproof mascara?
Yes, and very quickly too. Not much extra rubbing was needed.
