Supplies For Glitter Ombre Nails
For this tutorial we used Melody Susie gel polish 24+4 collection. You can use what you have on hand but make sure you are using a high quality sparkle gel polish in gold and a jelly peach color to have the exact look as this nail art.
Another option is to use silver glitter gel polishes for a different look.
Gel polish does not dry, it cures. So you will need a lamp for the curing process. If you have not used gel polish before and need a cure light, we have a helpful article on the best cure lights for gel polish to help you out.
Long full cover nail tips in your choice of shape. For this gold glitter ombre tutorial, the best nails to use are really long ones to get the full effect. Of course you can use short nails too, but long nails will really make this design pop!

Instructions: Glitter Ombre Nails
Step 1
Set aside the right sizes of full coverage nail tips for your fingers and have them ready. When you are finished with all of the nails, you can easily apply the tips.
Or if you are using this nail art tutorial for an idea for your press on nail business, you already know how important it is to have everything organized!
Step 2
With a 180 grit nail file, buff off the shine on each nail tip. Pay extra attention to the sides of the nail and also the top and bottom. If there are shiny parts left on the nail it can cause lifting.
If you know how to use an efile for nails, you can go ahead and use that to buff off the shine. Also a bonder will work for this step as well. There are bonders that are made specifically for jelly nail tips.
Step 3
With a lint free wipe, remove all of the dust from the nail tip. Use a bit of isopropyl alcohol for this step to make sure that there is no dust left on the nail.
Even a little bit of nail dust can ruin your manicure because that will cause bumps and the finish will not be smooth. Let dry completely before going onto the next step.
Step 4
Apply one thin coat of the base coat making sure the whole nail is covered as well as the tip of the nail. Cure for 30 seconds.
It's very important that the base coat is a thin and even layer. If it's applied too thick, the whole design might peel off prematurely. Also when capping the nail, do not use too much or your edge will not be crisp.
Step 5
Take the gold glitter color (g147) and apply it to the nail starting at the area closest to the cuticle. Bring the color down until you get almost to the center of the nail. Just above half way. Make the gel polish as smooth as you can.
That's one of the best things about gel is that you can take your time to get it perfect because it won't cure until it's under the light.
Step 6
Using a brush with a pointed end or chisel tip move the glitter polish around so that it has a gradual transition and not a hard line.
Use the brush to gently move the glitter around. Pay attention to the sides of the nail to make sure that everything is covered with the gold glitter. Cure for 30 seconds.
Step 7
Repeat with another coat of the glitter polish. Cure for 30 seconds.
Your nail should now have full coverage of glitter polish that goes into a gradient transition.
Step 8
Using the peach jelly color (093), apply it to the nail just above the center line and smooth it down to the tip.
Step 9
Then with very gentle strokes, move the polish up the glitter part but not all the way to the top. You should be able to see the glitter very clearly at the part closest to the cuticle.
You should be able to see the transition of the glitter starting to fade out. Doing this is going to give the nail more dimension. Once that is completed, cure for 30 seconds.
Step 10
Apply a second thin coat of the peach jelly to even everything out. Take a brush with a fine tip to smooth the polish. Examine the whole nail to make sure it is evenly covered from tip to bottom and also the sides. Cure for 30 seconds.
Step 11
Thoroughly cover the nail with a glossy top coat and do a final cure for 60 seconds.
These nails would look absolutely stunning for an evening our or for a wedding at any time of the year.
